Nepal Army is always ready to fulfill its constitutional obligation : Chief of Army Staff Thapa

Kathmandu. Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa has said that the Nepal Army should always be ready to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities. He made the remarks while concluding the Army’s Higher Command and Management Training at Sagarmatha Hall in Jangi Adda on Friday.


The Nepali Sainik War College in Nagarkot has been operating since August 25. Chief of Army Staff Thapa concluded the 8th Higher Command and Management Training on Friday.

He also expressed confidence that the recently released National Security Policy and the National Defense Policy and National Military Strategy that would be developed from it would be established as an important strategic guidance for the Nepal Army. During the interaction with the trainees of the training, Chief of Army Staff Thapa said that the training was of special importance as it was designed to build a common understanding of the organization’s vision and mission and to meet Nepal’s own environment and soil-appropriate military strategy and specific needs of the Nepal Army.
He said that in order to develop the Nepal Army as an institution based on methods and systems, everyone should be honest and creative to institutionalize the achievements of the past and address the present and future challenges.

On the occasion, Chief of Army Staff Thapa also clarified the need for the 3 + 1 operational command concept put forward by the Nepal Army and its significance in the context of Nepal. On the same basis, he pointed out the need for successful implementation including restructuring of the organization.


The highest level of training conducted in the Nepal Army was conducted at the Nepal Sainik War College in Nagarkot. It has started from 2071 BS. The training was conducted with the participation of only officers of the rank of Colonel of the Nepal Army and was attended by 30 colonels.


A total of 208 people, including five women army officers, have successfully completed the training so far. Colonel Narayan Bahadur Thapa has become the first West Student Officer in the overall training while Colonel Prakash Bahadur Chand has become the first in the field of research paper West in Academic Writing.
