In Thori, Indian SSB beat a Nepali

Birgunj. Tensions have risen in Thori of Parsa after a Nepali who went to market in Bhiknathori, India was beaten by the Indian SSB. While returning to Thori after buying goods from the Indian market, SSB jawans had beaten the locals in Thutekhola area. According to eyewitnesses, SSB jawans Himansu and Zakir Ali Khan charged Bishnu Ghimire, Raj Kumar Adhikari, Bhim Lal Tamang, Vikas Gurung and others with sticks.

After the beating on the Nepali side, locals of Thori and residents of Bhikna Thori, an Indian border market, had gathered at Thutekhola and chanted slogans against the SSB’s atrocities. After the locals protested, both the SAB men who were charging the baton fled. Security forces were scrambling to control the angry crowd.

According to Gokuli Regmi, who has been running a shop in Thori Bazaar, a Nepali who went to the market in Bhiknathori was beaten by SSB on Thursday. “On Thursday, there is a market in Bhiknathori. The man was beaten by the SSB after sending the woman home to go shopping together, ‘she said.’ Locals in both countries protested the SSB’s atrocities. ’

Another local woman, Mina Giri, said that the SSB jawans were behaving indecently towards the women who went to the market from Nepal under the pretext of checking them.

Locals of both the countries had staged a protest in Thutekhola demanding action against the SSB personnel who attacked Nepalis. According to the Area Police Office, Thori, the dispute was resolved after an SSB officer from Subhadra Police Station, Subhadra, India, apologized for the mistake
