Saptari. Police, with the help of locals, have stopped the child marriage that is going to take place on Tuesday. According to the Saptari Police, four persons were arrested and the child marriage was stopped after receiving information that the marriage was being discussed before the girl’s age.
A team of Rampur Malhaniya Police Post has arrested a 15-year-old girl of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-14, her 45-year-old mother, Rameshwar Sharma Sutihar, 67, of the same place and Binod Sharma Sutihar, 43, of Tirhut Village-3 Goithi of Saptari.
According to the locals, Rameshwar had initiated discussions for marriage between a 15-year-old girl and a 43-year-old man. According to SP Dhamala, a joint police team from District Police Office, Saptari and Police Post, Rampur, Malhaniya arrested four persons on the basis of information that child marriage was being discussed. According to SP Dhamala, the mother of the girl, who has been raising four children after her father remarried and left the family, tried to make her childless due to poverty.
The accused has been released on the condition of not having child marriage after discussion at the Women, Children and Senior Citizens Service Center at the District Police Office. According to Chief Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Dhamala of the District Police Office, Saptari, the marriage has been stopped on the condition of not having child marriage.
According to SP Dhamla, the four were taken into custody after receiving information that they were discussing for marriage.
